Journey of Authenticity: From Behavior Analysis to Purpose-Driven Wellness

Hello, I'm Clint Evans, a board-certified behavior analyst with 12 years of experience in the field of behavior change psychology. As a doctoral candidate working towards my doctorate in clinical psychology, I am set to finish my second master's degree in general psychology shortly. These qualifications, although extensive, are only a part of my story. What truly defines me is the authenticity I strive to bring into my professional life—a genuine approach that I believe is highly sought after today.

**Personal Health Journey**

Despite my professional background, I've had my own turbulent journey with health and wellness, including losing 100 pounds twice in my lifetime. While this isn't a feat I take immense pride in, it has been an essential part of my story.

**The Birth of Behavior Chef**

Out of my personal challenges with health emerged the Behavior Chef and the Behavior Chef Podcast. Over the last five years, it has reached millions, averaging over a million annually. This venture, initially a labor of love, has grown into something meaningful.

This project began in 2018 after I became a BCBA, living in a condo with my wife and no children. After taking the exam and waiting weeks for the result, which I passed, this affirmation marked the beginning of the Behavior Chef's journey.

**Professional Milestones**

Branching out into the health and wellness space was arguably one of the best career decisions I've made. In 2018, my wife and I lost weight through behavior analytic techniques, relying on mutual support and engagement. This led us to evolve within the behavior analysis community and contribute to various social media movements.

**Mental Health and Personal Struggles**

In 2018, I was diagnosed with ADHD, a revelation that came with newfound clarity, thanks to medications like Adderall. However, during the pandemic, I faced personal trauma as my wife experienced a health emergency while pregnant, which was a deeply challenging time.

**Family and Faith**

Balancing my life with my spiritual beliefs, I've strived to foster an environment of vulnerability and community. My journey has included profound moments in both personal and professional life, and through it, I've remained steadfast to my values alongside my family.

**Purpose-Driven Wellness**

Through the Behavior Chef, I have created initiatives like ReFrame, a course embedding relational frame theory and the principles of acceptance and commitment training. Despite challenges, including personal diagnoses such as bipolar II disorder, I continue to advocate for values-driven progress.

I believe in developing wellness that stems from inner freedom and understanding of personal values rather than mainstream norms. My work supports individuals in finding prediction, choice, and control within their lives, fostering consistency and ultimately forming habits to drive purpose and personal understanding.

**Conclusion and Future Plans**

This first look into my journey opens the door to a shared path of discovery, learning, and support. While our objective is to sustain a business, the primary motivation is to offer aid and value to the community that has given so much to me and my family.

Everything I put out there, whether it's a resource or guide, is designed to be accessible and free of hidden agendas. My hope is that by sharing these concepts and tools, I can help others find their path as well. Vulnerability and authenticity remain at the forefront of my endeavor, and I invite you to join me on this journey towards purpose-driven wellness. Let's be good humans to one another.

Let's Find Purpose Together,

Clint Evans, BCBA-LBA, PN1
